EU changes target about Biofuels. Read this article from CNN.

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) -- EU lawmakers voted Thursday to cut in half an ambitious target for using crop-based biofuels for 10 percent of its road transport needs by 2020.

The vote by the European Parliament's industry committee deals a blow to climate change goals agreed by EU leaders last year to try to cut carbon dioxide emissions.

Environmental and aid groups had criticized the EU's 10 percent biofuels use target, claiming it harmed efforts to fight global poverty, to effectively tackle carbon emissions and caused deforestation.

Germany is the world's biggest user of wind power, and it has ambitious plans to build even more wind turbines.

It has decided that generating nuclear power is not the way forward, and it has decided eventually to close all the country's existing nuclear power stations.

The country's great hope for is for a future of green energy, and in particular wind power.

However, some observers are now questioning whether all the investment in wind power makes economic sense.

(CNN) -- With rising energy prices and the global biofuel rush already putting pressure on food prices, more news that some countries' food supplies are being threatened from other corners is never welcome. But new research from the British Beekeeping Association (BBKA) released last week seemed to promise exactly that.

According to the BBKA, thecountry's honeybee populations fell by 30 percent in the past year.

Why should we care?

In the West at least, it is said that bees are to thank for putting one third of everything we eat on our tables. For humans they are also the most important pollinator on Earth.
